FAQ

Questions & answers

How do I put a password on a PDF?

Upload your PDF, type a password twice and click Protect PDF. Anyone opening the downloaded file will need that password.

How strong is the protection?

Files are encrypted with AES-256, the strongest encryption in the PDF standard. Use a long password — encryption is only as strong as the password.

Can I stop people from printing or copying?

Yes. Open Permissions and switch off printing, copying or editing. Most PDF readers respect these restrictions.

Do you keep my password?

No. It's used once to encrypt the file and removed from our system as soon as the job finishes.

Is it safe to upload my PDF?

Files travel over an encrypted HTTPS connection, are processed automatically without human access, and are deleted as soon as processing ends. Downloads expire after 60 minutes.
